Lagniappe

Via Janice, a bouquet of bonbons following the election.

* Democrats have won more votes than any party in midterm history: 66 million and counting.
* Dr. Annie Andrews is getting ready to sit in a seat that has been held by only two elected individuals in the last 60 years: Lindsey Graham and Strom Thurmond.
* Nathan Johnson, the first Democrat elected TX Attorney General since 1994, has revealed that he composed the score for 67 episodes of ‘DRAGON BALL Z’ as well as five of the Dragon Ball movies.
* Virginia Foxx, the white-haired down-the-line hard right-wing Rep (R-NC5) who became famous for her response to a fourth grader's letter about electric cars that he was being indoctrinated by his teachers and mother and should ask his teacher what "propaganda" means, is losing to a middle-aged regular citizen who ran for office to protect his gay daughter.
* Democrat Daniel Darris-O'Connor, a 19-year-old student at UMass Lowell, unseated a 16-year Republican incumbent for the Massachusetts House 22nd Middlesex District.
* Alabama State House District 25 on the west side of Huntsville has gone to a transgender woman. (Alabama!!!)
* Cindy Hyde-Smith, the Republican woman in the shocking still-too-close-to-call race in Mississippi, might have had a different opponent than Democrat Scott Colom (currently leading by 1,724 votes) if she had not blocked Biden's appointment of him to a federal judgeship due to his support of trans rights.
Also, Colom, who is Black, appears set to win Forrest County, named after Nathan Bedford Forrest, who founded the Ku Klux Klan.
* Black women won every race in Georgia for the Democrats: Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, Insurance Commissioner, School Superintendent, Labor Commissioner, and Public Service Commissioner.
* Adam Hamilton's win in Kansas marked the first Senate win by a Democrat in that state since 1932.
* Republican lawmakers redrew Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District to make U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner’s seat safer. Democrat Fred Wellman, a retired military officer active on Twitter, won it anyway.
* For the first time ever, at least 100 Democratic women are expected to serve in the U.S. House simultaneously.
* The new Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, Maggie Ellis, is the state's first out LGBTQ person elected statewide.
* James Talarico posted a photo of himself at his victory party with Luci Baines Johnson - the seat he won was LBJ's.
Rumors on Democratic plans:
* Famously anti-Trump GOP lawmaker Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky told CNN he plans to trigger a vote to impeach Hegseth when Congress returns next week — and multiple GOP sources said they expect it to pass.
* Democrats are planning to pass a bill called the Alex Pretti Act when they take over Congress in January that will end qualified immunity for ICE agents, allowing them to be sued or jailed for wrongdoing
* Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD08) has named Trump's exploitation of public lands as an oversight priority.
